It all started a little over a month ago when Tropical Storm Andrea dropped my Bradford Pear tree onto my house.
The good news is it only fell on my newly painted deck :( and my storage shed.
The damage was minimal as was the price, thank goodness, because things were about to get a whole lot worse!
The day that I was home with the tree people, the floor in my kitchen started to squish. I didn't know what it was, so I called a plumber. After an inspection, he informed me that I had a major leak behind my kitchen wall, due to my refrigerator. It had completely soaked the wall, pantry, and floor. I contacted my insurance company, State Farm, and was told to call a restoration company, you know the one that handle fires, floods, wind, and smoke damage! So I did. To make a long story short, I now have a gutted kitchen.
I also have a zipper door to keep the cats out of the mess.
I feel like we've been quarantined. :)
The good news is the kitchen is now dry and the fans are out of the house. The fans made the downstairs so hot! The bad news is I am still fighting with the insurance company who is saying they won't cover my claim.
I have been spending every single waking moment of my life dealing with these issues, that I have neglected both my writing and crafting. I need to de-stress A LOT, so I am slowly getting back to my crafts.
If I do end up having to pay for this kitchen, I am going to have to come up with
I have also neglected blogging and perusing my favorite blogs. Just yesterday I came across a summer crochet camp. It is hosted by slugs on the refrigerator. Love the name of the blog, but for right now, refrigerator is a dirty word!

The camp is for beginners and non-beginners. I thought I'd check in and see what new tips I can learn. It looks like a lot of fun and will even be offering free patterns throughout the camp.
The camp starts this Monday, July 15, so if you've ever wanted to learn to crochet be sure to sign up! We can all go to camp together. I could use a little Kumbaya right now. :)
Ugh, what a mess! Sorry it's been so rough.
ReplyDeleteWe had the same thing happen to our fridge. Thankfully we noticed it really quick, so we only had to replace the flooring in our office (shared the wall). Hope it is all better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh my how can you stand such a great stash of wonderful yarn. I am so impressed with your studio as it looks like a lovely place to sit and knit. That couch to curl up on.
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh... I remember times in my life when it seemed to not rain but pour problems! Such a beautiful tree to have had some of it felled. And the issue with your refrig! I am glad I read this post as I need to have the refrig checked out. This one is different from the one we had in our old house and I need to have someone tell me why the ice maker isn't working! Hope it's gushing water underneath. Eckkkk!
