I spent most of last week working on some small projects. My afghans were not even touched last week. I really need to get working on them again. But, I did finish a felt project, my first cross-stitch project of the year, and a little crocheted mushroom.
I used to sell these mushrooms in my Etsy shop when I first started selling my handmade crafts. They were a huge hit, especially with cats! I can't remember why I stopped selling them, but I think I'll make some more and put them back in my shop. I am in the process of switching over to Storenvy instead of Etsy, though. In my opinion, Etsy is getting way too big. Anyone else feel the same way? My little shop is just getting lost in the mix. :(

I hate to admit it, but I haven't picked up my Nook since last year. I just really prefer reading an actual book, but when free ebooks are available you just can't say no!
Y'all probably already know this, but on the B&N Nook site if you search under "free" you can find all of the free ebooks available. Unfortunately, from what I could tell from my few minutes of searching, many are erotic fiction. That is really not my thing. Plus, it really concerns me just how easy it is for children to get their hands on these free books.
Anyway. . . I found a new YA book that I downloaded for free, UnEnchanted.
The overview on B&N was what got me hooked:
Mina Grime is unlucky, unpopular and uncoordinated, but it all changes when she learns she is descended from the Brothers Grimm and has inherited all of their fairytale unfinished business. To break the storybook curse on her family, Mina must relive all of the fairy tales..until the very Grimm end.
This is soooo my kind of book. I love twists on the classics, so I can't wait to start reading this book. As of Monday, it was still free if you have a Nook!
Linking to Yarn Along and WIP Wednesday.

I feel the same way about Etsy. I spend a considerable amount of time working on my shop and try to advertise it but my sales are still low...
ReplyDeleteStorenvy looks great! I should try.
Storenvy is becoming the go to site for Etsy sellers. It is 100% free listing and no monthly fees. You should definitely check it out!
DeleteThanks for the book suggestion!
ReplyDeleteEtsy is well known, switching to something people haven't heard about might be a real problem. I'm on the computer all the time, I blog all the time, and I've never heard of the new one you mentioned. I would stay the course, if you're selling and it's been working don't mess with it.
ReplyDeleteDo you put cat nip in the mushroom? Or is it just a toy?
Thanks, Sandy. You are absolutely right. I am going to keep a few things on Etsy just because it is well known, though Storenvy is becoming the go to place for disgruntled Etsy sellers.
DeleteThe mushrooms are made both with and without catnip. Some kitties can't handle the 'nip! :)
Hello!
ReplyDeleteThat little mushroom is just the CUTEST thing I have ever seen! :D I adore small little things. I'm sure my kitty, Fat Lump, would have a wonderful time playing with one! Or I would just put it on a shelf so I could look at it in all of its cuteness ;)
I am having a 100th post Giveaway on my blog if you want to pop over and enter to win one of my knitted hats! Would love to hear from you! :)

Those mushrooms are way too cute! You mentioned that they were popular with cat owners-- do you sell them with catnip in them? :)
ReplyDeleteXO,

Thanks! Yes, they are made with and without catnip. I'm hoping to get some in my shop next month! :)
