Crocheting:
I'm still working on my Halloween/Fall crafts and pillows are my main focus. I've got one pillow in the works, another just waiting on felt, and a crocheted one, which I am working on this week. It is a cover for my Union Jack pillow. I thought it needed a little fall flavor!
I'm using this ball of yarn that I got last year at my church's yard sale. I have no idea what kind it is, but I am pretty sure it has wool in it. I'm also not sure I'm going to have enough to make the entire pillow, so I'm thinking maybe of crocheting one side and attaching fabric to the other side. We'll see.
I think it will look nice when it is done.
I also want to thank maggiegracecreates for giving me the tip about filing down my plastic hooks. It worked great! Thanks again. :)
Reading:
I've started reading an ice skating cozy mystery, Axel of Evil by Alina Adams. I saw this at my local used book store and thought it looked like a fun read. I really enjoy ice skating, though I don't do it as often as I'd like. I did go for my birthday a few weeks ago and really had a great time. Plus, I found out that the rink is 5 minutes from my house! I'm hoping that will push me to go more frequently this fall and winter.
Unfortunately, I started with the third book in the series. So far I don't seem to be missing much, but some characters from the other books are mentioned. I guess I'll have to make another trip to the used book store to search for the first and second book. :)
**Does the sidebar look bizarre and huge to you? If so, can you please leave me a comment? I don't know what happened, but it looked weird one minute and then fine the next. Thanks!**

ReplyDeleteThanks, Theresa! I didn't think about flying with my hooks. I haven't flown since I learned to crochet. I guess I'm all set. :)
DeleteHi, Melissa -
ReplyDeleteThis is Alina Adams, author of "Axel of Evil" and the rest of the Figure Skating Mystery series. Just wanted to let you know that all of the books in the series are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble as enhanced ebooks, meaning they not only have the text from the print version, but professional skating videos included as part of the story! I'd like to personally invite you to check them out!
All the best -
Alina Adams
Thank you so much! I didn't realize your books are available as ebooks. I picked up your first book last weekend, but am still in need of book #2. I'll definitely download that one, and I can't wait to see the skating videos too!
