Crocheting and Reading

Crocheting:
I got a custom order last week from a woman in California. She is throwing an Alice in Wonderland party next week and requested ten of my crocheted Mome Raths. I've never crocheted this many before, so I really had no idea how long it would take me. Well, it pretty much took me almost the entire week to make the ten, but mainly because my hand started to cramp. Crocheting around a pipe cleaner is no easy feat! By the tenth little Mome Rath, I really thought my hand would remain cramped forever! But today, my hand feels totally fine. I guess the rule of thumb is to not make ten in one week!

And here they are! My ten little Mome Raths all in a row, all ready for adventures on the west coast! They are looking a little nervous, though.  :)

Reading:
I didn't really have much time to read this week, but I did flip through my old Cath Kidston magazines for more inspiration for my blanket.

I'm still not happy with my color choices for my blanket. :( So since I am not too far along, I am going to frog the thing and start again from scratch. I think I am going to try a size smaller hook too, because the holes seemed a little large to me.

I found some great pictures that highlight Cath Kidston's colors.

Although the top picture shows the dark green, that I am still having issues with, I think I'm going to opt for the more sage green in the striped sheets instead. I think that will look better with my other colors.

I hope to start on it tonight. I'm hooked on the new Dallas, so I am hoping to work on a few rows as I watch the Ewings duke it out!

Linking to Yarn Along and WIP Wednesday.

  1. I have never seen Mome Raths, let alone crocheted ones, but they are cute and quirky.

  2. Those sure are cute...never seen anything like them before.
I can feel for you on the hand cramping as it happens to me with almost any crocheting anymore, but especially with the nylon dish scrubbers.
